Papadakis Racing returns to proven ground in Seattle

CARSON, California (August 19, 2026) — Papadakis Racing returns to Evergreen Speedway this weekend with Fredric Aasbo and Ryan Tuerck looking to add to the team’s strong record of success at the Seattle-area circuit.

Aasbo returns to a track where he has already stood atop the Formula Drift podium. The three-time champion won at Evergreen Speedway during his first title-winning season in 2015.

The Rockstar Energy Toyota GR Supra driver has been a regular podium threat again this season. Aasbo finished second at the Long Beach opener and third in Orlando, and enters Seattle looking to make up ground in the championship standings after the Indianapolis round was cut short by severe weather.

“Evergreen is a track where we know we can be competitive,” said Aasbo. “It’s fast, it takes commitment and the battles are always intense. We’ve had success there before, and I’m looking forward to getting back and fighting for another strong result.”

Tuerck brings strong recent form at Evergreen Speedway. The Rain-X Toyota GR Corolla driver took the win there in 2024.

“We’ve won in Seattle with both Fredric and Ryan, so we know we have the ability to get a result,” said team owner Stephan Papadakis. “The focus is on giving both drivers the cars they need and executing well all weekend.”

Aasbo and Tuerck plan to visit the nearby Monroe Fred Meyer (east of Evergreen Speedway) at 6 p.m. Thursday to greet fans, sign autographs and kick off the Seattle weekend ahead of Friday’s on-track action.

Formula Drift Round 6: Throwdown takes place August 21-22 at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington. The round marks the return to competition after severe weather brought the inaugural Indianapolis Formula Drift PRO event to an early end.

Norwegian driver Aasbo has won three Formula Drift championships since joining Papadakis Racing and is the most winning driver in Formula Drift history. He has earned more than 100 podium finishes in competition around the world.

Tuerck joined Papadakis Racing in 2020 and has twice finished third in the Formula Drift championship. The New Hampshire driver is also known for an ambitious collection of custom Toyota builds, including the Ferrari-powered GT4586, Formula Supra, Toyota Stout and Celica GT411.

Based in Carson, California, Papadakis Racing began competing in drifting in 2004 and is the most successful team in Formula Drift history. The team has earned five driver championships, winning with Aasbo in 2015, 2021 and 2022, and with Tanner Foust in 2007 and 2008.

Drifting is a high-skill, high-powered motorsport with an emphasis on car control. Drivers compete in head-to-head knockout heats on a closed course, sliding sideways in runs judged on line, angle and style. Formula Drift launched its professional United States championship in 2004 and now presents an eight-round national series in front of live and online audiences around the world.
